EU Urged to Boost Funding for Morocco’s Illegal Immigration Fight

The Spanish Prime Minister has urged the European Union to support Morocco in its fight against illegal immigration.
A key partner for the European Union, Morocco wants more financial mobilization to intensify this fight. In a recent interview, the Director of Immigration and Border Surveillance in Morocco, Khalid Zerouali, discussed his country’s immigration policy and current challenges.
The head of immigration emphasized the financial support received from the European Union to fight illegal immigration. The Kingdom believes that the 140 million euros it receives cannot cover all the necessary needs to successfully fight this scourge.
This plea from the Moroccan official comes in the wake of the exhortation of the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, to the European Union to increase its aid in favor of Morocco. According to him, the kingdom deserves more funding to deal with this scourge, the Prime Minister said last November.
Thanks to this collaboration, Moroccan security services have dismantled a total of 208 human trafficking networks. As for Morocco, it has thwarted 73,973 attempts at illegal migration.
