The United Kingdom is considering a major agreement with Morocco

The rapprochement between Morocco and the United Kingdom continues. London is considering signing a "major trade and security agreement" with the kingdom, "the gateway to Africa".
The United Kingdom plans to sign a post-Brexit agreement with Morocco as early as 2024, reveals the website Express.co.uk. Supported by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, this agreement could open up huge opportunities across the African continent for the United Kingdom. According to the British press, the agreement under negotiation would represent "another pro-Brexit victory" for the country. The doubling of trade with Morocco since Brexit, even before the signing of a new advanced trade agreement, is an example of the benefits of having left the EU, estimates Boris Johnson. The kingdom presents itself as an ideal African trade partner, as "it is one of the most stable countries in the region, and as a monarchy under the reign of its current King Mohammed VI, it has similarities with the United Kingdom". Currently, Morocco is in contact with the Department of Business and Trade (DBT) for the signing of the agreement.
In an interview with Daily Express, Hakim Hajoui, the Moroccan ambassador to London, outlined the many opportunities the United Kingdom can seize with his country. "We can offer much more than fresh tomatoes and raspberries. Let’s take energy for example. Morocco has massively invested in green energy and has the potential to contribute to the energy security of its strategic partners," he stressed, not failing to mention the growth of the Moroccan automotive industry. In total, 700,000 cars are manufactured each year in Morocco. Another advantage: Morocco is "the gateway to Africa for the United Kingdom," considered the Moroccan diplomat, believing that this opening to the continent is accompanied by "considerable" commercial possibilities in one of the largest markets of tomorrow.

Morocco expresses its willingness to sign this agreement. However, it expects the United Kingdom to recognize its sovereignty over the Sahara, as countries like the United States, Israel, Spain and Germany have already done. "In recent years, we have benefited from considerable support from the United States and European countries, including Spain
