Unaccompanied Minors Arrested Attempting Dangerous River Crossing at Spain-France Border

The Civil Guard of Guipuzcoa (Basque Country) arrested four minor migrants, including Moroccans, in the town of Irun as they were trying to cross the Bidasoa river where many migrants had drowned in the past trying to reach France.
Aged between 15 and 17, these minors of Moroccan and Algerian origin had escaped, in early May, from a center for minors in Madrid and wanted to swim across the Bidasoa river to avoid border controls in France. They were arrested on Thursday near the international bridge of Biriatou in Irun, reported the delegation of the central government in Euskadi (Basque Country) to 20minutos.
"The minors showed obvious signs of fatigue," the same sources specified. After their arrest, they were transferred to the headquarters of the Armed Institute of Guipuzcoa where their identity was verified. They were then made available to the juvenile judge who ordered their transfer to a minor center in San Sebastian.
