Ukraine Seeks Free Trade Agreement with Morocco, Expanding North African Economic Ties

Ukraine plans to negotiate a free trade agreement with a number of North African countries, including Morocco, said the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, Taras Kachka.
As part of the negotiation of this free trade agreement, several Ukrainian diplomats are expected in Morocco very soon, reports the Ukrainian press. For Taras Kachka, this decision will be formalized soon in official statements or memorandums.
The 2019 annual report of the Office des Changes also indicates that the Morocco-Ukraine trade balance is not favorable for the Kingdom. According to the same source, Moroccan imports from Ukraine amounted to 3.37 billion dirhams at the end of 2019. They mainly concern the purchase of cereals, particularly soft wheat.
As for Morocco’s exports to Ukraine, they are reduced to 684 million dirhams, and mainly include fish and fishery products.
