Tribute to Walid Regragui, "the man who led Morocco to the summit

Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, officially thanked Walid Regragui during a reception at the Mohammed VI Complex. He highlighted the spectacular evolution of the national team under the leadership of a man who has led it "to the summit" during his four-year term.

Regragui’s record is marked by the historic semi-final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. "History will remember a coach who has made his mark on the history of the Kingdom with numerous achievements," insisted Lekjaa, recalling that the coach is the main author of the steady progress of this team. Regragui advocates a new impetus for the future of the Atlas Lions.

For his part, the former coach justified his departure by a desire to preserve the interests of national football. Stating that the team now needs a "new perspective," he explained that he made this decision after a lucid reflection, convinced that the selection requires a new impetus.

Walid Regragui recalled his visceral attachment to the national team, having served as a player, assistant and then coach. Under his leadership, Morocco entered the FIFA Top 10 and played its first African Cup of Nations final in twenty years, establishing a true winning culture.

In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI, hailing his vision and sports investments. He also thanked Fouzi Lekjaa, stressing that he was leaving behind a "solid and uninhibited" group, ready to face the greatest nations in the world without fear.

To seal this collaboration, the President of the Federation presented him with a jersey signed by all the players in the squad.
