While traveling in Asia, a Moroccan woman chooses Vietnam to give birth… and discovers a 7-centimeter tumor
While traveling in the Philippines at 39 weeks of pregnancy, a Moroccan woman and her husband decide to fly to Vietnam to give birth. Their son is born a few hours after she is admitted to hospital, where doctors discover two complications they must treat.
The couple had researched maternity hospitals in several Asian countries before making their choice. On September 20, at around 1:30 a.m., the expectant mother arrived at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology at 39 weeks and three days of pregnancy, reports Sài Gòn Giải Phóng.
Upon arrival, her blood pressure reached 170/110 mmHg. Tests also revealed the presence of protein in her urine: she was suffering from severe preeclampsia. Despite being given two medications to lower her blood pressure, it remained at 150/100 mmHg.

As the pregnancy had reached full term, the doctors decided to perform a cesarean section. A 3.3-kilogram boy was born in good health. But during the operation, the surgeons noticed a mass on the mother’s right ovary.
A tumor removed during the cesarean section
The tumor measured approximately 7 centimeters. The surgeons removed it during the same procedure while preserving the ovary. The hospital stated that the mother and her baby were in stable condition after the operation.
During her nine months of pregnancy, the Moroccan woman had undergone only four prenatal consultations. As a result, some follow-up examinations had not been carried out, according to the institution.

The little boy’s name is Issa. His father, Mehdi Rhandour, thanked the doctors for treating his wife and expressed his joy at the birth of their first child in Vietnam.
