Travelers Face Steep Taxi Fares at Tangier’s Ibn Battouta Airport, Demand Solutions

Users of Ibn Battouta airport in Tangier suffer from the high cost of grand taxi services and call on local authorities to find effective solutions.
In Tangier, passengers sometimes have to pay up to 300 dirhams to get to Ibn Battouta airport. This is almost the price of a flight operated by a low-cost airline like Ryanair or Air Arabia Maroc. This is the observation made by Tanja24, which assures that the suffering of travelers is worsening, because only the lobby of the grand taxis holds the monopoly. Travelers therefore have no other alternative, except to use the services of the grand taxis, which are both expensive and financially constraining. The grand taxi lobby is said to have weighed heavily to thwart alternative solutions, such as public transport services, as well as any attempt to diversify transport services.
Faced with this situation, many travelers and activists are calling on the local authorities to intervene in order to find effective solutions, ensuring the provision of varied transport services at reasonable prices, on the one hand, and putting an end to the monopoly of the grand taxi lobby, on the other hand. Actions that will contribute to improving the travel experience via Ibn Battouta airport and will allow the transport sector to get out of the stranglehold of the monopoly.
