Transavia Introduces Fee for Extra Carry-On Luggage Starting April 3

The Dutch low-cost airline Transavia has revised its commercial policy on baggage allowances. From April 3, its Moroccan and other nationality customers will pay for a service that it had offered them free of charge until now.

End of free hand luggage. From April 3, Transavia passengers who wish to travel with more hand luggage with a BASIC or PLUS fare can purchase an option allowing them to carry, in addition to their hand luggage, a large piece of hand luggage, reports Air Journal. This suitcase-type trolley or other bag with maximum dimensions of 55x35x25 cm must weigh no more than 10 kg. Its location differs from that of the hand luggage or laptop bag to be placed under the seat in front. It must be placed in the compartment above the seat.

The Dutch low-cost carrier gives travelers the opportunity to purchase the option when booking or later online, in their My Transavia space, starting at 15 euros depending on their route on Transavia France (and starting at 10 euros on Transavia Netherlands). The advantage? Passengers will also be able to benefit from priority boarding at Paris-Orly and thus be among the first to board the plane. Travelers who choose a MAX fare when booking can carry a piece of hand luggage free of charge, in addition to their hand luggage. In addition, they will always benefit from priority boarding.

Customers who make their booking before April 3 are not affected by this measure. Whether they choose the BASIC, PLUS or MAX fare, they will benefit from a free hand luggage, with maximum dimensions: 40x30x20 cm, to be placed under the seat in front of them. However, they must be among the 70 passengers to board. As for the others, they must check their bags in the hold.
