Tragic Fire in Granada Claims 6-Year-Old’s Life, Mother Critically Injured

A 6-year-old Moroccan boy died Monday in a fire that broke out in the building where he lived with his 47-year-old mother in the La Chana neighborhood (Granada). The latter, seriously injured, was rushed to the hospital.
The fire broke out around 3:15 a.m. on the third floor of the residential building. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the fire, although everything indicates that a butane leak causing an explosion would be at the origin. The 6-year-old boy died on the spot and his mother, seriously injured, was rushed to the Trauma Hospital in Granada. Her vital prognosis is engaged, reports EFE.
Upon arrival at the scene, the firefighters found the lifeless body of the minor and his mother who was burned to a "significant" degree, says the spokesman for the firefighters, specifying that they rescued these two victims and managed to bring the fire under control. During this rescue operation, which also involved members of the local and national police, about forty people were evacuated from their homes as a precaution.
