Tragic Accident in Morocco Claims Lives of Three Belgian-Moroccan Children During Family Vacation

The vacation in Morocco of a family of Moroccans residing in Ans (Liège) turned into a nightmare. This family was the victim of a terrible road accident. Three of the four children of the couple died on the spot.

The events took place this week. After leaving for Morocco to spend their vacation there, the six members of the Boujamaoui family were struck by a tragedy. With cousins, uncles and aunts, they went on Wednesday to an oasis to bathe there. Without the mother of the family and the eldest daughter. On their arrival at the scene, they begin to bathe. Suddenly, one of the cousins of the Ansois drowns. The rescue workers tried to save him, in vain. This tragedy deeply saddened the family and prompted them to return.

The father of the Ansois, Brahim, takes his place in the vehicle of the authorities. The rest of the family followed the convoy transporting the body of the young victim. While the uncle of the children was driving the car, an accident occurred. The uncle, terribly saddened by the tragedy that had just taken place in the oasis "was in tears at the wheel of the vehicle" and would have felt unwell, reports La Meuse. This is followed by an extremely violent run-off the road. The three children of the Boujamaoui family, Youssef 13, Yassin almost 5 and Ibtissam 15, as well as two of their cousins, died on the spot. As for one of the aunts of the children, she succumbed to her injuries on Friday.

The news saddened many people in Liège, the RFC Liège where the young Youssef played in U13. "Youssef has been playing at the RFC for 6 to 7 years. He has always evolved in this club. He was a very good player who had exemplary behavior. He was always present and showed many sporting qualities. He was also called up to the Liège selection and had already received offers from elite clubs. [...] The players who played alongside Youssef are devastated," says Frédéric Debougnoux, youth coordinator at RFC Liège. The club expressed its sincere condolences to the family, "with a big thought for Brahim, very involved at the RFCL during home matches where he does not hesitate to officiate as a referee for our young people." The RFCL coordinator also announced that "a tribute will be paid to Youssef, within the club, in the coming days."
