In Toulouse, Moroccan supporters a little too enthusiastic
The joy of Moroccan supporters turned to excess on Monday evening in the Pink City. Following the victory of the Atlas Lions against Zambia, the celebrations degenerated in Toulouse, where a police station was targeted by pyrotechnic devices.
The euphoria of qualifying for the round of 16 of the 2025 CAN was manifested in a "a little too explosive" way in the Mirail district. According to a police source, the Bellefontaine police station was directly targeted by mortar fire in the evening. Fortunately, this incident caused no material damage or injuries. The police described the events as "the use of fireworks in the context of events following Morocco’s victory".
The rapid intervention of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) allowed a return to calm in the area. The party then moved to the city center: a procession of about thirty vehicles went to the Jean-Jaurès square. Here again, mortars were fired, but without gravity. The evening ended around 11:30 pm without any arrests.
