Morocco’s victory: the party spoiled by violence in France, a police officer seriously injured in Lille

The jubilation gave way to confrontation. On Thursday evening, as supporters celebrated the victory of the Atlas Lions, scenes of riots were reported by several French media, particularly in the north of the country. In Lille, the toll is heavy for the law enforcement: a police officer had his leg broken.

The disturbances were concentrated around the Barthélémy-Dorez square, near the Boulevard de Metz. The evening degenerated when individuals began to set fire to waste containers and vehicles, requiring urgent intervention by the firefighters.

It was in this tense context that the law enforcement faced an "aggressive" gathering. During a control operation, the situation escalated: a suspect physically attacked a police officer, causing him to fall and sustaining a serious injury. Rushed to the hospital, the diagnosis confirmed a broken leg.

Despite the violence of the exchanges, the BAC patrol made arrests. A person suspected of being behind the fires was arrested, as well as another individual found in possession of gasoline, leaving little doubt about his intentions.
