Toulouse Exhibition Explores Maghrebi Immigration History from 1945-2001

The José Cabanis Media Library is hosting an exhibition that focuses exclusively on Maghrebi immigration in the Pink City, Toulouse. It opens on September 10 and will last four months.
It is in the heart of Toulouse that an exhibition focusing on the Maghrebi presence in the Pink City between 1945 and 2001 will be installed from September 10, 2019 to January 12, 2020. Behind this initiative is a cultural association born in the Izards neighborhood: Tactikollectif.
The exhibition was set up with a specialist in the cultural history of immigration and Salah Amokrane is the General Commissioner. According to him, ’’Ô bledi ! Ô Toulouse !’’, means "Oh my country! Oh Toulouse!". For actu.fr, Naïma Yahi, is the historian specializing in the cultural history of immigration whose help has made it possible to design the exhibition.
Public archive photos, some of which are by the Toulouse photographer, Jean Dieuzaide, have been used. "We also used images from associative archives, but also from private archives, entrusted by Toulouse families who left Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia..." explained Salah Amokrane.
The exhibition opens with a concert by Mouss and Hakim, at the media library. A rap writing workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25. A rich program has been concocted, according to the organizers, for the enhancement and celebration of the Maghrebi presence in Toulouse.
