Throne Celebration Controversy: Moroccan Officials and MPs Excluded from Royal Guest List

The names of several personalities, elected officials and parliamentarians are not on the guest list for the throne celebration, scheduled for Thursday within the royal palace of Tetouan.
Under the supervision of the central administration of the Ministry of the Interior, the heads of the Interior departments in several prefectures and provinces have carried out a thorough review of the invitation lists. The names of personalities, elected officials and parliamentarians, deemed "suspicious" or with questionable relations have been excluded from the throne celebration, reports Assabah. The walis and governors have kept the usual lists. They have simply made some targeted adjustments, particularly for certain parliamentarians whose "presence was controversial."
Some political leaders did not fail to react to these selective cuts. Questioned, one of them confides anonymously to have been excluded several years in a row, without however providing the reasons for his exclusion.
The 26th anniversary of the throne celebration will take place on Thursday within the royal palace of Tetouan. In charge, the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, accompanied by the walis and governors of the central administration. In turn, the delegations and representatives of the different regions, prefectures and provinces will march in tight ranks. On this occasion, they will renew their allegiance to the king, as Amir Al Mouminine (Commander of the Faithful). At the end of the ceremony, Abdelouafi Laftit will gather the senior officials of his department for his traditional annual conclave, the objective of which is to set the roadmap for the months to come, while relying on the main lines of the royal speech.
