Thousands March in Casablanca Demanding Democracy, Social Equality

Thousands of Moroccans marched through the streets of Casablanca on Sunday to demand the establishment of "true democracy". The protesters denounced, among other setbacks of the current management of the country, social inequalities and "the arbitrary detention of political prisoners".
The demonstration was organized by the Moroccan Social Front (FSM), which is a collective bringing together four left-wing parties, trade union organizations such as the Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT) and associations, such as the AMDH which focuses on human rights, specifies the AFP.
The date of this march coincided with the anniversary of the February 20 Movement that had agitated Morocco in 2011, during the Arab Spring era. The protesters strongly protested against unemployment, the high cost of living, and the shortcomings of public services.
They demanded "the release of all political prisoners", starting with those of the Moroccan Hirak. After a few hours, the crowd of protesters, who were waving large banners and red flags, then dispersed peacefully.
