Thomas Cook Collapse: Morocco Ensures 268 Stranded Tourists Complete Vacations in Agadir

After the bankruptcy of the tour operator, Thomas Cook, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is pulling out all the stops to guarantee the end of stay for the 268 tourists in Agadir.
Bankrupt Thomas Cook customers can breathe a sigh of relief. They will finish their stay "normally", assures Adel El Fakir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT).
"Only 268 Thomas Cook tourists are still in Agadir. The hoteliers in the capital of Souss have made a commitment to guarantee their stay," he said.
In Marrakech, hoteliers have expressed their willingness to offer the same service to tourists staying in the ochre city. According to Adel El Fakir, the repatriation operation, which began on Wednesday, September 25, is taking place "under the best conditions".
On another note, the ONMT has also focused on securing the lost market shares and the risk regarding the air seats left, as of September 23. The tour operator had attracted 61,200 clients to the Kingdom and provided 45,000 seats.
To this end, the ONMT has mobilized all its foreign delegations. The objective is to find solutions to approach other Tour Operators (TO) and quickly recover the lost market shares as well as the air capacity.
These two issues were discussed at a meeting that the Director General of the ONMT held on Thursday, September 26 in Agadir, with the Wali of the Sous-Massa region, the President of the Agadir CRT and the hotel partners of the British tour operator.
