Teens Arrested in Clermont-Ferrand for String of Violent Thefts Targeting Elderly Women

A 17-year-old Moroccan adolescent and his Algerian accomplice were arrested on Thursday in Clermont-Ferrand. They are accused of around a dozen snatching thefts, notably targeting elderly women.
The modus operandi of the Moroccan teenager and his accomplice was to target these elderly women, whom they would follow before snatching their necklaces, sometimes using violence to carry out their plan. These two teenagers had been operating with impunity for several months in the locality. In July, one of the two suspects was arrested and indicted by the juvenile judge.
According to the same media, the teenagers have become more violent and the thefts have multiplied in recent days. Three women aged 72 to 96 were the target of their low maneuver on August 20 in Chamalières, two of whom were prescribed ITTs (total work incapacity) of two and four days.
Alerted, the investigators of the departmental security service followed the trail of the teenager, indicted in July. Thanks to the surveillance cameras, he was arrested with his accomplice. While the Algerian admitted all the facts attributed to him, the Moroccan only acknowledged one.
Presented before an investigating judge for an indictment for thefts with violence, the prosecution requested the detention of the Algerian. As for the Moroccan, known in other regions for similar acts, his trial date is not yet known.
