Teenager Jailed for Luxury Watch Theft in Saint-Tropez Tourist Hotspot

The Draguignan Criminal Court sentenced a young Moroccan to one year in prison for snatching a luxury watch from the wrist of a tourist in Saint-Tropez.
The events took place on September 4 in Saint-Tropez. While Andrey M., a Russian tourist was stuck in traffic and "had casually stuck his left arm out of the window of his vehicle", he had his Audemars-Piguet watch worth 35,000 euros stolen, reports Nice-matin. Tarik M. is the thief. The gendarmes managed to arrest this young Moroccan in possession of the stolen item.
"I can only say that there were two of them and that it was indeed he who pulled my arm to steal my watch, recounts the victim. I couldn’t do anything, with the seatbelt... I thank the gendarmes for having quickly arrested him."
In the box, Tarik admits the facts he is accused of. "It was an Italian who told me to do this. He gave me a pill, and after that I didn’t know what I was doing anymore. I was like drugged. Without that, I would never have stolen," he explains. Lawyer Audrey Adjimi knows the reality of unaccompanied minors. "A network is exploiting these young boys in precarious situations, she deplores. It’s annoying, but even if he hadn’t been caught, he wouldn’t have been able to benefit from this theft."
The verdict is in: Tarik gets one year in prison.
