Moroccan Man Jailed for Domestic Violence and Threats in Lisieux, France

The Lisieux court sentenced on Friday, September 17, 2021, a 24-year-old Moroccan in an irregular situation to one year in prison for violence and death threats against his partner, a mother of two minor daughters. He is considered a "serious threat" to his fellow citizens.

Threat to "redo the smile" of his partner, cuts at the level of the lip commissure... The cup is full. On September 15, 2021, a complaint was filed against the young Moroccan under a deportation order since December 7, 2018 for "apology for crime by electronic means", reports Actu.fr. "There, really, I’m afraid. He’s unpredictable when he’s drunk or using drugs," the plaintiff told the police. She specifies the facts: insults and blows, sometimes in the presence of her two minor daughters, a bite on the arm, an ashtray thrown at her foot and old bruises.

The accused is known to the justice system. His criminal record bears mention of 7 convictions - including 3 for acts of violence. During his immediate appearance for acts of violence not having resulted in ITT and death threats against his partner, he admits to having insulted his partner when he was drunk but denies having laid a hand on her. His former partner, contacted by the investigators, also denounced his violence.

"He socially isolates his victim, denigrates her and tries to make her feel guilty, hits her. [...] It’s a matter of survival that led her to file a complaint," comments the deputy prosecutor, Virginie Le Nechet. "Given all your convictions, your presence on the territory characterizes a serious threat to our fellow citizens," the president explained. The verdict is in: the Moroccan in an irregular situation was sentenced to 12 months in prison with immediate detention and bans on entering the territory for 5 years and staying in Lisieux for the same period.
