Tariq Ramadan Files Complaint Against Accuser for Alleged False Evidence in Rape Case

Swiss Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan has filed a complaint against one of his accusers. This is the one the media have nicknamed "Christelle".

This time, the complaint is related to false evidence that one of the 5 women accusing the man of rape would have produced. Tariq Ramadan, according to his lawyers, had already filed two complaints on Friday for "forgery and use of forgery" and "attempted fraud in judgment" against "Christelle".

Christelle would have lied about the origin and date of a photo she used in her file to attest to the violence she suffered on the day of her rape, committed on October 9, 2009 in Lyon. "The material evidence in favor of Tariq Ramadan must be taken into account," Tariq Ramadan’s team of lawyers said. In his second complaint, the Islamic scholar accuses Christelle of having retouched the screenshots of a Skype conversation she would have had with him.

Christelle’s defense rejects all these accusations, which also target Henda Ayari, the first plaintiff. "Victims must be intimidated by complaints that are as systematic as they are unfounded. And try to talk about something other than the overwhelming evidence that has led to Tariq Ramadan’s not less than 5 indictments for rape," said Me Eric Morain, Christelle’s lawyer.
