Tanzanian Coach Alleges Referee Bias Favoring Morocco Ahead of AFCON Match

The coach of the Tanzanian national team, the Algerian Adel Amrouche, accuses the Royal Moroccan Football Federation of using its influence within the Confederation of African Football to choose the referees for its matches.
Referring to the match that will pit his team against the Atlas Lions next Wednesday in the Africa Cup of Nations, the Algerian coach stated on an Algerian channel that the Moroccan team is used to choosing the referees of its matches due to the weight of its Federation within CAF. A statement that has not failed to surprise more than one.
Adel Amrouche believes that the Tanzanian team will have to face the "cheating" of the Moroccan team, even if he acknowledges that on paper, the Atlas Lions are stronger than the Taifa Stars. "Morocco is currently a dominant power in football and it is the one that manages the affairs of African football," he insisted, however noting that no coach prepares a match to lose it.
Last November, Tanzania had lost at home to Morocco (0-2) in the match counting for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Taifa Stars will face the Atlas Lions on Wednesday in San Pedro, Côte d’Ivoire as part of the first day of the CAN.
