Tangier Waives Late Fees for Alcohol Vendors Impacted by Pandemic

The city council of Tangier has suspended the late payment penalties that owners of alcoholic beverage outlets had to pay. This will relieve these owners whose activity has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Good news for owners of alcoholic beverage outlets. While the Tangier city council was supposed to summon them to pay these late payment penalties for non-compliance with the deadlines for paying taxes on alcoholic beverage outlets, it has decided to suspend them outright. This decision was made after the recent meeting held by the PJD officials of the municipality and the representatives of the owners of alcoholic beverage outlets in the city, reports Al Akhbar.
This decision, which brings relief to the owners of alcoholic beverage outlets, will create a huge shortfall for the municipality. Taxes on alcoholic beverage outlets being its main revenue, the municipality thus loses significant financial resources. Before the health crisis related to the coronavirus, these revenues had generated a surplus of eight million dirhams, the council had said.
