Tangier Tourism Hit Hard as City Reimposes COVID-19 Lockdown

The announcement of the re-confinement in Tanger on Monday, July 13 dashes the hopes of tourism professionals who were hoping to achieve significant sales figures during the summer period, in order to turn the page on the negative impact of the health crisis related to Covid-19 on the sector.
In Tangier, the tourism sector is far from experiencing its glorious hours again. The city is confined again. Tourism operators will not have the chance to do good business during the summer season. "July seems definitively lost. And if the health conditions do not improve by August, it’s the end," lament the tourism professionals.
The new outbreaks of contamination detected in several densely populated neighborhoods have led to this re-confinement. Health measures will thus be tightened. In other words, travel will be limited to urgent cases, intercity transportation will be limited, public establishments will be closed around 8:00 p.m. Not to mention the closure of bus and train stations, cafes and hammams. The inhabitants of Tangier will have to leave their homes again with their exceptional travel authorizations.
