Tangier Prosecutor Drops Assault Complaint Against Checkpoint Officer

The deputy prosecutor of the king, assaulted by an element of the auxiliary forces at a checkpoint in Tangier, has finally withdrawn his complaint. The incident, which had caused controversy, is now closed.
The page is now turned on this act of violence. The story goes back to last week, when the magistrate was about to cross the checkpoint to take care of personal matters. Not having kept any identification document, the deputy prosecutor was apprehended by the auxiliary forces agent. He was called an "animal" by this agent, before being taken away in the Mokhazni’s van.
To denounce this blunder, the body of magistrates had also risen up. Last Monday, the Hassania Association of Magistrates affirmed that it was closely following the developments of the case. For the association, this incident could be detrimental to the major national efforts deployed by all the authorities and institutions in order to preserve the peace, health and security of all.
According to the same daily, the magistrate decided, on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, to withdraw his complaint in order to preserve his dignity. The association, for its part, stressed the initiative of the magistrate "who today, of his own free will, decided to withdraw his complaint in order to preserve his dignity". For the association, this initiative, the result of the efforts of several parties, took place in the presence of the president of the regional office of the Hassania association in Tangier and several magistrates.
