Tangier Police Motorcycle Theft Crackdown Operation
Facing a surge in thefts, Tangier’s police force has launched a major security operation. Dozens of motorcycles have been seized and several suspects arrested across different neighborhoods in the city.
The Tangier police prefecture has deployed significant resources to combat crime. Under the supervision of the prefect and zone commander, the anti-gang brigades and judicial police have swept through several sectors. Law enforcement targeted alleyways, suspicious cafés, and particularly two-wheeler rental agencies.

These businesses are suspected of supplying vehicles used for robbery. During these raids, a substantial number of vehicles were seized and transferred to the municipal impound. Officers also arrested suspects involved in thefts, as well as individuals wanted for drug trafficking and acts of violence.

On the Malabata corniche and at Playa, pedestrians are outraged by motorcycle-related pickpocketing, a phenomenon that spares no foreign visitors. A Spanish tourist was recently victimized by this crime when she was robbed of her mobile phone during a stroll on the corniche. Two criminals on motorcycles had spotted her movements before striking, leaving bystanders in shock.
