Casablanca Police Launch Crackdown on Motorcycle Theft and Related Crimes

Casablanca wants to put an end to motorcycle thefts and the most common motorcycle crimes. A large-scale campaign to control motorcycle riders has been launched in this direction.
A campaign to control motorcycle riders is underway in Casablanca, as well as in the surrounding areas such as Médiouna, Tit Mellil and Mohammedia. In charge, the security agents of the prefecture of the city who have set up police checkpoints in several streets to control the motorcycles, reports Hespress, adding that even the motorcycles of delivery workers working for goods delivery companies are also checked. On the ground, the police officers stop the drivers to check if they have the documents relating to the motorcycles they are using and at the same time recover the stolen motorcycles. The purpose is to put an end to thefts, especially burglaries by motorcycle.
The harvest is good: tickets have been issued against several motorcycle riders. Dozens of motorcycles whose owners did not have the legal documents have been seized and stolen motorcycles have also been intercepted.
This campaign is a response to the complaints of many citizens and videos posted on social media about the proliferation of pickpocketing crimes committed using motorcycles. Many Moroccan Internet users have called on the authorities to conduct campaigns against the owners of these vehicles.
