Tangier Opens New COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit as Severe Cases Surge

Severe coronavirus cases are flooding into Tangier to the point that local and health authorities have decided to set up a new facility dedicated to cases requiring intensive care.
The city of Tangier has had an intensive care facility since Thursday, July 23 to manage its severe COVID-19 cases. It was set up in a private clinic in "Tanja El Balya" (Old Tangier). It has state-of-the-art equipment and takes care of cases that require special care, including being connected to ventilators for oxygen.
According to local and health authorities, this strengthening of medical resources in the city is also characterized by the arrival of about thirty medical staff, including anesthesia-resuscitation specialists, doctors and nurses.
Since Thursday, July 23, 2020, 24 patients of different ages have been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Mohammed VI Hospital in Tangier. For the time being, the city has recorded 207 cases of contamination in 24 hours (Friday, July 24), according to a latest report from the Ministry of Health.
