Tangier to Invest 1.12 Billion Dirhams in 476 New Urban Buses

The Council of the Al Boughaz Intercommunal Cooperation Establishment has announced the launch of a call for tenders for the acquisition of 476 new buses, to modernize the urban transport network of Tangier and its surroundings. The budget allocated to this operation amounts to 1.12 billion dirhams.

This ambitious project aims to replace the buses of the Spanish company ALSA, whose contract with the municipality of Tangier is coming to an end. Pending the implementation of this new system, the contract with ALSA has been extended for six months.

The new buses, which will have to be equipped with the latest technologies, will be divided into five categories:

• 28 buses 8 meters long, of the Low Floor type, equipped with a Diesel engine at least Euro 5.
• 51 buses 10 meters long, of the Low Floor type, equipped with a Diesel engine at least Euro 5.
• 120 buses 12 meters long, of the Low Entry type, equipped with a Diesel engine at least Euro 5.
• 247 buses 12 meters long, of the Low Floor type, equipped with a Diesel engine at least Euro 5.
• 30 buses 18 meters long, of the Low Floor type, equipped with a Diesel engine at least Euro 5.

The Council of the Al Boughaz Intercommunal Cooperation Establishment intends to significantly improve the quality of the urban transport service for the inhabitants of the Tangier-Asilah region.
