Tangier Imposes New Lockdown Measures as COVID-19 Cases Surge

Following the discovery of new outbreaks in neighborhoods of Tangier, the entrances to the target areas in the city have been closed since this Sunday at midnight. The idea is to succeed in containing the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and limiting its negative repercussions.
In a press release, the Ministry of the Interior indicated that it has also been decided to "strengthen control so that people in these areas only leave their homes in case of extreme necessity." Emphasis is placed on the necessary precautions such as "physical distancing, hygiene measures, mandatory wearing of masks and downloading the ’wiqaytna’ application".
From now on, until further notice, hammams, sports halls and stadiums will remain closed. An exceptional travel authorization issued by the authorities will be required, reports La MAP, which points out that "markets, shopping centers, cafes and public spaces must close at 8:00 PM".
These measures will be eased depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the city, "the achievement of concrete results to contain the pandemic and the decrease in the number of infected people," specifies the same source.
