Tangier Consumer Prices Rise 0.4% in October, Led by Food Costs

At the end of last October, the consumer price index (CPI) in Tangier recorded a 0.4% increase compared to the previous month.
This variation is the result of a 1.4% increase in the food products index and a 0.2% decrease in the non-food products index, explains the HCP in its information note on the CPI for the month of October.
The rise in food prices observed during the period mainly concerns meat (5.3%), fish and seafood (4%), vegetables (3.9%), milk, cheese and eggs (0.9%), oils and fats (0.2%) and bread and cereals (0.1%), notes the HCP.
Regarding non-food products, the change is attributable to the drop in "transportation" prices by 2.7%, and the rise in the indices of the "clothing and footwear" (1%), "miscellaneous goods and services" (0.8%), "furniture, household items and routine household maintenance" (0.5%) and "health" (0.1%) divisions.
