Tangier Boosts City Revenue with New Taxes on Alcohol and Casinos

The Tangier city hall, managed by the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM), plans to replenish its coffers through taxes on alcohol and casinos.
Unlike the Party of Justice and Development (PJD), the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM), which has been managing the Tangier city hall since the local elections of September 8, has chosen to strengthen the municipality’s resources through taxes on certain businesses such as those dedicated to the sale of alcohol, reports Al Akhbar. This is the new find of the current leadership team, after the controversy surrounding the sale of certain real estate assets.
In the 2022 budget, it is thus planned that the tax imposed on the sale of alcohol should bring the city hall 16 million dirhams against 12 million previously. As for the resources generated from the taxes on the operation of casinos within the city, the city hall plans to generate 12 million dirhams against 11 million previously. It should be recalled that the health crisis related to Covid-19 had a negative impact on these revenues, which were limited to only 3 million dirhams.
