The Tangier airport is protecting itself against floods and is investing in it

The company that wins this contract will have the mission of carrying out specific works over a period of 18 months. The project provides for the construction of a large trapezoidal concrete canal as well as the installation of buried pipes equipped with inspection manholes, in order to ensure effective drainage of rainwater around the runways and terminals, according to Maghreb Intelligence.

A future regional hub connected to the high-speed train

These protection works accompany the rise in power of the airport, integrated into the "Airport 2030" program. The public authorities have invested 3.2 billion dirhams to transform the platform into a regional hub capable of meeting the expected demand for the 2030 World Cup.

The objective is to increase the capacity from the current more than 2 million passengers to 7 million by the end of 2028. This modernization includes the construction of a new terminal as well as a direct connection to the high-speed rail network.
