Tangier Airport Expansion: New Terminal and Control Tower to Boost Luxury Travel

The Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport will soon have a terminal and a control tower. The National Airports Office has just launched a call for tenders for the architectural studies of the project.

The passenger terminal will be built on an area of approximately 55,000 m² and will have a public hall with a reception, circulation and waiting area, modules, shops, services and a space dedicated to ticket withdrawal for departing passengers.

The call for tenders also concerns the construction of an inspection and screening area (PIF) at the entrance, a passenger and baggage check-in area, a border police control area for departures and arrivals, a disembarkation hall, an boarding area, a baggage delivery and sorting area, a customs control area upon arrival and an area for baggage delivery.

Outside the terminal, the construction of the esplanade on the city side and the esplanade on the runway side is planned, as well as a waiting area for passengers, a parking lot with a capacity of 2,300 spaces reserved for cars and a parking area reserved for buses and taxis, rental car boxes, official circuits, green spaces, etc.

33 m high (R+8) including the ceiling of the control tower, the control tower "will be subject to validation by the competent authorities and may be modified if necessary," it is specified. The realization of this project requires a budget of 800 million dirhams (excluding VAT). This provisional budget does not include the development of the aircraft parking lot.
