Tanger Med Port Streamlines Agri-Food Exports with Digital Certification System

The port of Tanger-Med has installed a dematerialized solution for the export procedure of agri-food products, from the conditioning stations throughout the Kingdom.
Since the beginning of January, the inspection certificate issued by the autonomous establishment for the control and coordination of exports Morocco Foodex, and the phytosanitary certificate issued by the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA), essential for agri-food exports, are systematically integrated into the Tanger Med Port Community System, and accessible to a database of nearly 5,000 Moroccan exporters throughout the Kingdom, according to a press release from the Tanger Med Port Authority (TMPA).
According to the same source, these documents are also digitally transmitted to the customs administration for the issuance of the customs clearance for shipment through the port, thanks to the automated exchange.
It specifies that these new dematerialized services, implemented by Tanger Med, are the result of a partnership with the Foodex and ONSSA control bodies, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, as well as with the customs and indirect taxes administration, in the service of the competitiveness and facilitation of Moroccan agri-food exports.
In doing so, the port of Tanger Med is pursuing its commitment to a digitalization approach for the continuous improvement of its services to customers, the press release notes. It also points out that these new services are added to a range of solutions already accessible through the Tanger Med Port Community System, including the management of maritime calls, the dematerialization of port passage, the traceability of Freight units and multi-channel payment.
