Tanger Med Port CEO Dismissed for Alleged Conflict of Interest

Hassan Abkari, CEO of the Tanger Med Port, has been dismissed from his duties, for "serious misconduct".
Hassan Abkari is no longer the CEO of the Tanger Med Port. His dismissal came on Friday following an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors of this strategic institution. At the origin of this dismissal, the alleged involvement of the now former head of the Tanger Med port in commercial activities in Spain. According to the Spanish newspaper Economia Digital, he would have created a "port services" company in Valencia which houses a major port competitor of Tanger Med.
For the moment, no official press release has been published. Pending the completion of the investigations into Abkari’s creation of this consulting company in Valencia (New Port Consulting 2024), as well as his alleged involvement in real estate transactions in Spain, the Port’s Board of Directors has already appointed a replacement.
