Ferry from Tangier to Marseille Battles Rough Seas, Passengers Panic

Panic on board the ferry connecting Tanger Med to Marseille organized by the French embassy in Morocco in coordination with the Moroccan authorities. The ferry chartered by the shipping company La Méridionale to allow French, European citizens and permanent residents in France traveling in a vehicle registered in Europe to return home set sail from the port of Tanger-Med to reach Marseille, but had to face unfavorable weather conditions, due to the high waves that complicated the crossing, reports Al Akhbar. No loss of life is to be deplored.

Only major material losses - damaged cars - were recorded. Compensation should be provided for motorists. "What happened was horrible," passengers recount. "It would have been wiser to postpone the crossing, at least to avoid the maritime lines marked by the high waves." They questioned the usefulness of the on-board control services, supposed to alert to weather conditions as a prelude to any departure. "How is it possible to risk the lives of a hundred travelers?" they wonder.
