The Tanger Med highway: a danger for motorists

The state of deterioration of the highway leading to the port of Tanger Med where many accident cases continue to be recorded is a concern for the deputy of the parliamentary group of the Party of Justice and Development, Salwa El Bardaï. She has questioned the Minister of Water and Equipment, Nizar Baraka.
"This road experiences a lot of traffic due to the major importance it holds, being located in an essential economic area in the field of transporting people and goods in our country, as well as constant activity, which requires its continuous maintenance," says Salwa El Bardaï in a question addressed to the Minister of Water and Equipment, Nizar Baraka. "But unfortunately, the current state of this road, she notes, shows great neglect and a decline in the maintenance process and a disregard for the lives and property of the users of this road." Faced with this observation, the elected official questions the minister on "the causes of the deterioration of the state of the Tanger-Méditerranée highway" and asks him for the measures his department will take to improve it.
In February, road users complained about the dilapidated state of the highway leading to the port of Tanger Med. They described a "catastrophic situation". Bolts obstruct traffic at one of the entrances to the Mediterranean port and have remained in that state for weeks without repair. Trying to avoid these bolts, some drivers - especially large trucks carrying products for export - lose control of their vehicles which overturn on the side of the road. Accidents that result in huge material losses.
