Taiwan resumes visa processing for Moroccans after two-month suspension
Moroccans can once again apply for visas to Taiwan as of Monday, October 12. Taiwanese authorities have lifted the restrictions imposed in late July, ending more than two months of administrative tensions between Rabat and Taipei.

It’s official: Moroccan nationals can once again submit visa applications for Taiwan. Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday, October 12, that it was immediately resuming the processing of applications, which had been suspended since July 30. The decision was confirmed by the news agency Focus Taiwan, after several weeks of discussions about entry requirements for travelers from both countries.

The dispute began on July 23, when Morocco’s embassy in Japan abruptly stopped processing visa confirmation letters for Taiwanese travelers. These documents are essential for them to visit Morocco for tourism or business, as they are not eligible for Morocco’s e-visa.
A week later, Taipei retaliated by applying the principle of reciprocity. Visa applications from Moroccans were suspended, with the exception of certain cases granted special authorization by the Taiwanese government.
Morocco had resumed processing initial applications in September
The impasse began to ease on September 21. On that date, the Moroccan embassy in Tokyo resumed reviewing applications for confirmation letters for Taiwanese tourists. The information was officially shared with Taipei’s representatives four days later.
But Taiwan’s authorities kept their restrictions in place. They wanted confirmation that Morocco had resumed processing applications from other categories of travelers, particularly business travelers. The situation had already been reported on Bladi.net in late September, while Moroccan nationals remained unable to use the usual process.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs now says it has received official confirmation that Morocco has resumed processing applications. It welcomed the decision and, in turn, restored Moroccans’ access to visa procedures at its diplomatic missions abroad.
For Moroccan travelers, the October 12 measure marks the end of the summer suspension. They can once again follow the usual procedures to apply for a visa, whether traveling for tourism, business or another purpose.
