Since September 15, Moroccans can no longer enter Thailand without a visa
Since Tuesday, September 15, holders of a Moroccan passport can no longer travel to Thailand without a visa. They are no longer covered by the new exemption scheme and do not benefit from a visa on arrival either: the application must now be submitted before departure.
The reform announced on September 1 by the Thai Department of Consular Affairs has now come into force. It replaces the system applied since July 2024, which allowed nationals of 93 countries and territories, including Morocco, to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa.
The new list includes only 60 countries benefiting from a 30-day exemption. France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Turkey are still included, unlike Morocco.

Holders of a Moroccan passport are among the nationals of 21 countries that completely lose the benefit of the general visa-free scheme. Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Albania, Jamaica, Monaco and Panama are among those affected by the same decision.
A visa to obtain before departure
To travel to Thailand, Moroccans must now obtain their visa before leaving. An application for an electronic tourist visa can be submitted on Thailand’s official platform, as the e-Visa system has been extended to the country’s entire diplomatic network.
The visa on arrival is not an alternative solution. According to the details of the new rules, this system itself has been significantly reduced: it is now accessible only to holders of passports from Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia.

The digital arrival card, or Thailand Digital Arrival Card, remains mandatory for all foreign travelers. It must be completed before entering the country, including when an electronic visa has already been obtained.
Moroccans who entered Thailand no later than September 14 are not affected retroactively. They retain the length of stay granted by immigration services upon their arrival, which could reach 60 days under the former system.
For upcoming departures, booking a ticket and accommodation is therefore no longer sufficient: travelers using a Moroccan passport will have to wait for their visa to be issued before entering Thailand. This removal adds another major destination to those whose doors remain closed without a prior visa to holders of a Moroccan passport.
