Swedish Singer Loreen Makes History with Second Eurovision Win, Returns Home Triumphant

Winner of the 67th Eurovision edition, Moroccan-born singer Loreen says she is proud to have represented Sweden and to be the second person to win the contest twice after Irishman Johnny Logan.
Loreen has returned to Sweden, proud to have won Eurovision 2023. "I’m incredibly happy," Loreen said upon landing the plane that took her from Liverpool to Stockholm International Airport. Her joy is immense. "On the return flight, I had my first burst of joy and I looked at the sky. I’m incredibly happy. I’m so proud that Sweden sent me," the singer confided, trophy - a hand-made glass sculpture in the shape of a microphone dating back to the 1950s - in hand. The trophy is "really heavy," she added.
Her Tuesday schedule was a bit busy. The 39-year-old singer was expected in the evening in a park in central Stockholm, a popular place known for its outdoor cafes and outdoor concerts, where she was to give a live-streamed show, reports the website toronto.citynews.ca.
In 2012, Loreen, whose real name is Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui, had already represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Moroccan had won the contest by performing her song "Euphoria". Her second victory at Eurovision 2023 brings Sweden’s tally to seven trophies, tying Ireland’s record. The country will have to host Eurovision 2024, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of Sweden’s first Eurovision triumph - ABBA’s victory in 1974 with "Waterloo".
