Suspected Polisario Attack Near Moroccan Air Base in Western Sahara

Three new shots were reported in the night from Saturday to Sunday, not far from a military base located near the city of Smara, in the Moroccan Sahara. This could be a new attack by the Polisario.
These explosions could have been caused by an attack by Polisario militias against a Moroccan air base in the area, reports Équipe Media cited by Europa Press. "The incident took place near the military base from which the drones responsible for the death of many Sahrawi civilians in the liberated territories depart," the same source specifies.
For the moment, the information has not been confirmed by any official Moroccan source. On October 29, the city of Smara was the target of four bombings claimed by the Polisario and which left one dead and three civilian casualties. The United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) has also not reacted to this attack.
After a Moroccan military action against Sahrawi activists in Guerguerat on November 14, 2020, the Polisario declared the ceasefire of 1991 broken. The separatist movement has also described as "betrayal" the change in Spain’s position on the Sahara in favor of Morocco.
