Suspected Moroccan Terrorist Faces 12-Year Sentence for Plot Against Spain and Morocco

A suspected Moroccan terrorist could be sentenced, on Wednesday, to a heavy sentence of 12 years in prison, for having planned attacks in Morocco and Spain.
The Moroccan was arrested along with a fellow combatant, in May 2018, as part of a joint operation carried out with the Moroccan security forces. The defendant had been arrested for threatening to carry out attacks in Spain and Tunisia, against Western leaders, according to the Spanish justice system.
The defendant had also praised the violent actions of the terrorist organization Daesh. He had in particular had virtual contacts with other members of Daesh in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and had also shared the radical ideology of a movement in the Rif.
The Moroccan terrorist is also accused of disseminating a video on the handling of bladed weapons, as well as sharing security measures to avoid being detected on social networks.
According to the justice system, the two suspected terrorists face 12 years in prison and expulsion from Spanish territory, after serving two-thirds of their sentence.
