Suspected Monkeypox Case in Morocco: European Traveler Isolated at Ceuta Hospital

A first case of monkeypox would have been admitted to the university hospital in Sebta. It would be a Moroccan from Europe, back from vacation in Morocco. Analyzes are underway to confirm this hypothesis.
Health sources confirmed to Ceuta TV that a citizen from a Northern European country arriving from Morocco was admitted to the university hospital in Sebta for monkeypox. The presumed Moroccan residing abroad, presenting symptoms of the disease, was isolated at the border at the beginning of the week, then transferred to the hospital. However, it will be necessary to wait for the results of the analysis of the sample sent to the Carlos III Institute in Madrid to confirm that it is the first case of monkeypox in the autonomous city.
The same sources assure that all measures have been taken to reduce contacts with the presumed case, indicating that personal protective equipment has been made available. The exact nationality of the patient, as well as his age, are currently unknown. The analysis results will make it possible to determine the severity of his case and to provide him with the appropriate treatment in Sebta, or to consider his transfer to his home country.
