Suspect in Fatal Madrid Warehouse Fire Arrested After Posing as Witness

A Moroccan, the alleged author of the fire that cost the lives of two people last August in Torrejón de Ardoz (Community of Madrid), appeared in several media a few hours after his crime, recounting the facts as a simple witness.
Mohamed was placed in pre-trial detention on Monday as the alleged perpetrator of the fire that broke out on August 20 in the industrial warehouse in Torrejón de Ardoz (Community of Madrid), causing the death of a 20-year-old woman and her partner. The accused had appeared in several media the day after the fire, narrating the facts as a witness, reports El Confidencial.
Investigators found that Mohamed, 31, a Moroccan national, was not a simple witness. He had had a relationship with the deceased young woman who had reported him for mistreatment. The accused was at the crime scene. "We were here watching Netflix, smoking joints... things like that. Nothing else," he said on Telemadrid after the fire. But he did not tell the whole truth. According to the investigation, he decided to set fire to the warehouse after discovering that his ex-girlfriend was with another man.
The investigation is ongoing and the investigating judge in charge of the case hopes to collect in the next few hours the testimonies of several people likely to further prove the guilt of the Moroccan, in addition to the many evidence already gathered by the national police investigators against him.
