Suspect Appeals Detention in Belgium Murder Case, Evidence Mounts

The suspect in the murder of Mounia Ouyahia, 36, killed on May 30 in Evere, has appealed the decision of the council chamber to extend his pre-trial detention. He denies any involvement in the facts.
His lawyer, Master Eddy Cochez, claims that his client would not be responsible for this horrible crime that shook Belgium a few days ago, reports the newspaper "Sudpresse".
However, the newspaper learns from police sources that several elements implicate him and make him the real suspect. The publication cites a knife and a bloodstained sweatshirt found during the search of his home.
The same sources confirm that one of the sleeves of the sweater had a blood stain the size of a hand, but this blood stain has not yet been analyzed. There were no traces of blood on the knife itself and the fanny pack that contained the knife will also be the subject of a thorough analysis.
The newspaper reports that a few days before the incident, the young man had already been arrested on the Rue de Brabant for threatening a passer-by with a knife.
Likewise, the surveillance camera videos have made it possible to clearly identify him in the immediate vicinity of the incident, and on which the man can be seen, just after the knife attack. An obviousness that led him to change his version.
At the end of last week, the suspect’s home was searched. Today, the investigators would have searched his home again. In addition, his laptop computer would have been seized.
