Moroccan Mother Fatally Stabbed While Walking Baby in Brussels Suburb

As she was walking with her two-month-old baby on Sunday, May 30, Mounia, a 36-year-old Moroccan woman, was slit in the throat by an individual. A suspect was arrested, heard by the judge and then charged with murder.
This will be her last walk with her two-month-old baby. Sunday evening, around 7:40 pm, as Mounia was walking in the street with her baby in a stroller, she received knife blows to the neck, at the intersection of the Rue des Deux Maisons and the Avenue du Cimetière de Bruxelles, in Evere. "He was walking a few meters behind her on the sidewalk. [...] Quickly, Mounia decided to slow down at the intersection with the Avenue du Cimetière de Bruxelles, so that the man could pass her. Suddenly, he took out his knife and stabbed Mounia in the neck. Just like that. It’s simply incomprehensible," recounts to Het Laatste Nieuws Sara, a friend of Mounia’s brother who is in close contact with the family.
"A suspect was arrested in the evening on Sunday and was deprived of his liberty," the Brussels public prosecutor’s office said on Monday. It is Andy K., 21 years old, known to the police for more than 25 offenses, who suffers from mental disorders and had no connection with the deceased mother, reports Sudpresse. "The family is devastated, continues Sara. The world is collapsing. Mounia had no chance. And the perpetrator of the crime is a complete stranger. Why did this man commit such an act? How could such a thing have happened? These are questions that remain unanswered for now."
According to her family, the victim had no enemies and lived quietly with her three children. "Her husband went to work and Mounia took care of the children at home. They were 11 and 9 years old, the youngest was only two months old. They led a quiet and happy life. They never caused any problems to anyone. It’s so sad. This murder is an example of gratuitous violence," added Sara.
This Tuesday, the suspect was heard by the investigating judge, charged with murder, then placed under arrest warrant.
