Survey: Water Pollution and Waste Top Environmental Concerns for Moroccans

Water pollution and waste management are at the top of Moroccans’ concerns, according to a survey conducted by "Arab Barometer" on Moroccans’ environmental concerns.
Moroccans are increasingly concerned about climate change issues. Many are becoming aware of environmental challenges in the North African region. According to "Arab Barometer", 58% of Moroccans are concerned about water pollution, 47% are also concerned about the issue of waste management, while the level of national concern about air quality is 41% and 37% of the population believe that the risk of climate change is very high.
The people who say they are concerned about environmental issues are mainly those who have received university education, about 48% among young Moroccans with higher university degrees. The issue of climate change is no longer unknown to urban or rural populations. 38% are convinced that climate change is very dangerous.
Despite the awareness of the dangers of certain climate issues, only 4% of the Moroccans surveyed think that reducing environmental pollution should be an absolute priority in terms of public spending.
