A survey conducted by L’Économiste and the Sunergia group revealed that 88% of Moroccans are opposed to extramarital sex. In the northeast, center and south of Morocco, the responses reach nearly 90%.
The same survey reveals that 9% of respondents cite a religious (haram) reason to explain their opposition to extramarital sex. A small portion refuse to comment on the subject, while only 9% of respondents say they are in favor of it.
The survey is part of the Sunergia group’s Market Insights and was based on 5 criteria: age, gender, place of residence, region and socioeconomic status. A total of 6,257 people were contacted, of whom 49% are men and 51% are women.
