Study: Muslim and African Patients in France Face Healthcare Discrimination

Women, Africans and Muslims living in France are numerous to give up on healthcare because they are afraid of being discriminated against. This is revealed by a study carried out by the National Institute of Demographic Studies (INED).
The study indicates that women, Africans and Muslims regularly feel "less well treated than others" in hospitals, which explains their renunciation of certain health care. Women more often face incidents such as "refusal of service" or "inferior quality of care" than men. Populations from sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa and Turkey face the same problems.
The INED mentions "significantly higher rates of discrimination" for these categories. 32% of sub-Saharan Africans, 26% of Muslims and 22% of North Africans give up on medical care because of discrimination, the report says. 17% of women victims of discrimination prefer, for their part, to stay away from doctors.
