Study: Morocco Offers Budget-Friendly Travel Alternative to Spain

Morocco is "much cheaper" in terms of a limited budget than Spain for tourists. This is the result of a comparative study conducted by a specialized website.
A study by the Canadian travel specialist website "The Travel" shows that Morocco is known to be one of the cheapest and most interesting countries to visit while being close to Europe when you have a limited budget. This is not the case with Spain. In Marrakech, one of the main destinations in the kingdom, the cheapest dormitory accommodation listed on Hostelworld.com is $4 per night with a delicious Moroccan breakfast included. Private rooms in better hotels are also cheaper in Morocco. In contrast, the cheapest dormitory accommodation listed in Barcelona, one of the main destinations in Spain, costs between $22 and $26 per night for the cheapest bed in a shared room.
A cheap meal in a restaurant in the ochre city costs $3.30. In Barcelona, you have to spend $12.70 to be served a cheap meal. In terms of transportation, Morocco is cheaper. A one-way ticket on public transport is set at $0.40 in Marrakech, $2.50 in Barcelona. What about renting a one-bedroom apartment downtown? With $390, a tourist can rent an apartment of this type in Marrakech. In Barcelona, the price is $1,030. The only exception: alcohol costs more in Morocco (and is much harder to find) than in Spain. The imported beer is sold for $6.00 in the ochre city while it costs $3.70 in the Spanish city.
